Historical approach can't do justice to Sri Aurobindo

 Collated by Tusar Nath Mohapatra

Modern life is about options and accepting The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine can save one from meaningless mythologies and rituals. Savitri Era Religion boasts of a robust philosophical undergirding in consonance with the scientific Consciousness studies field.

The physical presence and actions of The Mother & Sri Aurobindo (1872-1973), and not their published writings alone, should be the basis of awareness of them. Further, their dealings with the Occult should be given due prominence for understanding them and their mission on earth.

Situating Sri Aurobindo is ticklish since a wrong lens can lead to skewed inferences. Thus a linear or historical approach can't do justice to him. Savitri Era Religion holds The Mother & Sri Aurobindo as the one Supreme Divine and their philosophical contributions as derivative.

1. Sri Aurobindo- where u create/transform tech in integral world view and simultaneously human evolution to higher states of mind. So rashtra in this evolving state will bend tech-state.

2. A traditional approach where asuric mahayantras like tech will lead to destruction/pralaya. Rashtra is incompatible with this. Puri Shankaracharya holds this view in its pure form today.

R.C.Mazumdar had the intuition & brilliance to get to the essense of things and goes beyond superficial recounting of piecemeal facts like mediocre historians. He correctly identifies Bankim Chandra, Swami Vivekananda and Sri Aurobindo as the inspirations behind freedom movement.

Sometimes Dr. Radhakrishnan would know very little about something but would pass expert opinions. Ex: He did not understand Sri Aurobindo's works but still wrote a lot about it. Westerners like Ken Wilber misunderstood Sri Aurobindo as they went by Radhakrishnan 's works.

So tough to expect traditional acharyas to be able to do it (sorry if I offend anyone). Sri Aurobindo fits these three criteria (seer, mahakavi and highest Yogic attainment). No evidence yet of any revered traditional acharya (incl Kanchi Periyava) satisfying all these criteria.

Seeking can take each one through a path unique to each. I went from Ramakrishna Paramahamsa & Vivekananda to Ramana Maharishi to Sri Sri Ravishankar to Sri Aurobindo and the Mother where I have found my destiny. Read a lot of Yogananda and Kanchi Periyava in between.

Lastly one must never project one's own moralistic inclinations upon the domains that are transcendental. As Sri Aurobindo has said that intellect is an instrument of ignorance growing towards knowledge. Human mind isn't even secondary medium where Shastras are related.

Sri Aurobindo's inspiration (along with that of Swami Vivekananda) in the formation of RSS and even the current  policies of BJP is little known or commented upon. Integral humanism of Deen Dayal is very close to ideas espoused by Sri Aurobindo much earlier. +

Also being an mahakavi and an integral philosopher he was a key inspiration in reviving modern Indian poetry along with Tagore. Most major state of India has its mahakavi or a celebrated writer who has been inspired by Sri Aurobindo (Bharathi, Va Ra and Kaviyogi in TN) +

KM Munshi and poet Sundaram of Gujarat, Da Ra Bendra of Karnataka, many many more in almost every major state of India who went on to receive Jnanapeeth (highest Indian literary award) or Sahitya Academy (second highest literary award). Sri Aurobindo is least appreciated +

When compared to others in freedom movement. The intentional and systematic undermining of Sri Aurobindo in history of Bengal and India by leftist historians needs to be corrected. Interested ones can check out Manoj Das's well researched book +

Manoj Das is also the famous Odiya writer inspired by Sri Aurobindo. This gives the most detailed account of his contribution to Indian freedom movement (both nationalist Congress and revolutionary).

Shraddalu ji explains Sri Aurobindo's integral yoga beautifully.

Humans have 3 inherent, universal impulses.

- Impulse to love

- Impulse to know

- Impulse to act and expand

Hindu mind explored each of them to the highest potential, not intellectually but as Yoga.

Sri Aurobindo explains why Indian mind's pursuit of extreme opposites, say ascetism and hedonism or ethical and intellectual, never resulted in chaos.

"In every extreme the Indian spirit seeks for a law in that extreme and a rule, measure and structure in its application."

I seek shelter in Christian Science, Sri Aurobindo and western philosophic idealism. Knowing the world is illusion gives strength and peace to face it.

Picture of Mahatma inspired many of our generations ;; although Sri Aurobindo was critical of Gandhiji ; but I not only admire Mahatma and Nehru both ; both two were  great inspirations for me we can't repay our debt to both and consider Sri aurobindo as  my Soul...

Sri Aurobindo refused to grant him audience. Gandhi was still hellbent on meeting him and maintained correspondence with Aurobinfo ashram's secretary  and went on to inquire ashram's activities and details of Gujarati residents there for vote bank politics.

It didn't look like he was treating Sri Aurobindo's life and activities conducted by his ashram as a very private matter? He in fact even after Aurobindo's refusal to grant him audience kept on writing letters enquiring about various activities and number of Gujarati residents.

I can't understand how both Modi hating liberal left and Nationalist Hindutva supporters, can draw from Sri Aurobindo's texts

Sri Aurobindo himself nationalist (congress split) , and a member of hindu mahasabha, imo the original hindutvadi, so one of these two are more correct
